We’ve probably all made them

We all probably have done things in our past that we aren’t proud of.  Maybe they are things that seemed like a good idea at the time to do, but ended up leading us down an unhealthy path.

Michael W. Smith is one of the biggest, most recognized names in Christian music who has won many awards. In this very revealing video, he shares about some of the regrets in his past.

(If the video does not display above, you can watch it here.)

What do you do with those past experiences and regrets? Can anything good come out of them?

I believe God can, and wants to, redeem our past. One of the ways He can do this is to use us as a voice of wisdom in our kids’ lives, hopefully preventing them from making similar mistakes. That may mean sharing out-right your experiences with them, or simply watching and protecting against patterns in their lives that we know led us to make the choices we did.

While we can’t erase our mistakes in the past, they can serve a purpose in the present.
